Rita Ora just ended her four month long whirlwind romance with The Social Network actor Andrew Garfield. The relationship wasn’t very long lived as they had only been together for four months. They were first recognized as a couple back in November and were subsequently spotted together around Christmas time strolling together through London. A source told The Mirror “The relationship just fizzled out. It’s sad but they have both accepted the situation and moved on.” The Sun said that he wanted a less public relationship and she apparently wasn’t able to accomodate him with that. “They spent Christmas together and she thought things were going well between them,’ a close source said. ‘Her career is going from strength to strength and lives her life in the spotlight but he told her he wanted to lead a more private life. ‘Rita had tried to do that and had kept their romance off social media but things didn’t work out.” Some say if you love someone you should want to show them off. While true, just look at the Kardashians and what social media has done to many of their relationships… more specifically Khloe Kardashian who has been said to have her boyfriend Tristan Thompson’s social media passwords, that is until he was no longer her boyfriend.
Meanwhile, on the music front, Ora just released a revamped version of her song Only Want You, but this time with rapper 6LACK. The song is about finding love and wondering if her past actions if her past actions were got in the way of it happening. The song was released around the time her and Garfield were publicly known to be in a relationship. We wonder if that was written about him. Now she’s released the song as a single and she’s going to have to perform it without the person she created it for in her life. How awkward. But there’s no need to pity Ora, this song has helped make her the first British female solo artist to have thirteen top ten songs in the United Kingdom.
She also performed at the VH1 Trailblazer Honors this year. The show is the only televised LGBT awards ceremony which this year was centered around celebrating “today’s most respected politicians, entertainers, artists, activists, allies and icons who have dedicated their time and steadfast commitments to the women’s movement and beyond.” Ava DuVernay was honored as she was the who was the first highest grossing African-American woman director in domestic box office history thanks to the film A Wrinkle in Time. Nancy Pelosi and a few others were honored as well. We mentioned these names to show what amazing company Ora was in to perform there. The song she chose to perform, Soul Survivor was a personal anthem of hers from her first album reflecting her fight wit her old label, Roc Nation. She claimed that while on the label she was only allowed to release one song.
For the full performance, you’ll have to watch Friday at 9/8c on VH1.
