Missy Elliott Museum Tickets Sell Out in 60 Seconds + She’s Releasing New Songs at Midnight

This year is really panning out of Missy Elliott. After receiving a honorary doctorate from Berklee’s College of Music this May and being told she’s getting the MTV Video Vanguard award, she now has a pop up museum in her liking in New York City. There for two days August 24th and 25th at 632 Broadway, tickets have now all been sold out in 45 minutes. “”m so thrilled that MTV, in collaboration with Pepsi, has decided to showcase the amazing work of my dear friend Missy Elliott,” her costume designer June Ambrose said in a statement. “It has been my distinct honor and privilege to have been fortunate enough to costume design for Missy for so many years, a true labor of love. I wish to congratulate Missy, Hype Williams, HitHat and all the many creatives whose amazing work will be on display at the Museum of Missy Elliott.”

The woman behind the Love & Hip Hop franchise as well as her longtime manager Mona Scott gave her respects to Missy in a statement as well saying, “Missy Elliott is a creative genius whose contribution to music and pop culture can be felt across generations. I’m honored to have worked with her for over 20 years and proud to call her my friend. The fans deserve and the world is ready for a museum that celebrates Missy Elliott and her iconic, record-breaking career.”

And on top of all that Missy has going on, the announcement of all announcements occurred today when she said she’d be releasing a set of songs tonight at midnight, her first in over a decade. “This year has been a tremendous year for me. I am humbled and grateful. THANK YOU for allowing me to smell the roses,” Elliott posted on Facebook. “You, my fans, and God are the reason I am here and have celebrated every milestone with me! So, I have a SURPRISE for you… let’s continue the celebration at midnight tonight…I’m dropping a collection of new songs! Let’s #ThrowItBack to a time when music just felt good and made us want to dance!”
