For the Brandy and Immature fans out there, you might have heard this story before, but Immature singer Romeo just addressed it again. During an interview with Nick Cannon on his radio show, he explained why he wore an eye patch while in the group and stated it wasn’t just a fashion accessory. Apparently Brandy accidentally knocked him in the eye leaving him blind.
“Her and [former Immature member] Half Pint had got into it and she had a book in her hand, just tossed it back not thinking I was that close, cut my retina, detached it. The lens to my eye had fell out. And, actually, Brandon Adams had caught it. He was there. So he was there holding my lens, he didn’t know what was going on. Marq come in and we tryna hide it.”
And speaking of accidents, there’s the car accident she was in over a decade ago where she killed another driver and admitted that she was at fault. Both of these incidents absolutely must be traumatizing to have experienced. It’s not every day that a freak accident leaves another person blind. And last month a report of Monica punching her in the face prior to going on stage at an award show performing The Boy is Mine together happened once.
This incident with Brandy actually came up before on Romeo’s single Look Down at Me from his debut album Food for Thought. “I remember when Brandy Norwood hit me in my eye / I had a detached retina, my lens came out I had to have tree eye surgeries,” he said on the track. “And she thought we’ll never be cool again / But I put that on my life / I love her to death / And if she hear me talking, I know she can hear the honesty in my voice and my sincerity / But you gotta get up.”
There has been no word yet from Brandy about this. We’re sure it’s something she wants to put behind her. Making a public statement apologizing for putting someone’s eye out like some deleted scene from A Christmas Movie is awkward, especially when it appears they already discussed this in private.
