Chance the Rapper Just Announced a Massive Tour to Support His New Album that Comes Free with a Lyft Ride

Chance the Rapper’s debut album is here and if there is any event in modern rap that’s more significant, we’d like to know. Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Bennett has been independent seemingly forever and released all of his music for free. He’s in turn made music from touring and selling merchandise. But the Chicago hometown hero announced a major North American tour just days after releasing The Big Day, his first album he’s actually charged money for. The 35 date tour begins in San Francisco September 14th, stops through Vegas, Philly, a number of other places and finishes in Miami November 10th. Tickets go on sale August 2nd at 10am at chanceraps.com/tour for those interested.

The album itself comes at a time where he’s recently married which was the inspiration for much of the project. Maybe that’s why he’s charging for this project. You know, women aren’t cheap. I kid, but in all seriousness, this is a great time for the rapper. He has given so much back to his community with recent offerings like a free year of grocery for someone whose dance moves he likes and even giving the album free to everyone taking Lyft this past weekend through today, the least we can do is purchase the album or support through streaming it because it’s once again on all of the major streaming platforms.

There’s also a more important overarching theme about Chance the Rapper as an artist. He champions legal marriage, legal black businesses, a young black Cosby of sorts… not the post #MeToo Cosby but you get the point. And I have to say that as I argue the merits of rap when people constantly like to point out the negatives, Chance represents all that is good about the genre and exemplifies a model citizen within the black community whether he did so intentionally or not. And as usual, outside of acknowledging him consistently producing good music, we’re always happy to see him constantly rising in his career because we need more Chance the Rappers in the industry.
