Cardi B was spotted shopping at Prada in Beverly Hills and was every bit of the image of a celebrity as fans were crowded outside of the store tripping over themselves to see inside and to get a picture of her. While there, the paparazzi asked her about her thoughts on rapper A$AP Rocky currently behind bars in Sweden. She was asked if she would boycott performing in the country to show solidarity. She said she’s not going to ban a country that’s shown so much love but stated that they do need to free A$AP Rocky.
As a reminder, Rocky was arrested for defending himself against a few guys who appeared to be either intoxicated or under the influence of drugs that were clearly seen on camera following him around. He gave them a chance to go away to no avail, which resulted in a fight. “So a few drug addicts are not my fans, we dont know these guys and we didnt want trouble, they followed us for 4 blocks, and they were slapping girls butts who passed, give me a break,”
he posted to his Instagram with video of his side of the event.
As for Cardi, her wishes might be coming true as he has had a lot of support here in the states. Kim Kardashian lobbied President Trump’s adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner to help get him released. It’s been reported that the President “told Kushner he believed A$AP was being held unfairly, and wanted to help.” A State Department spokesman said they were “following this case closely,” but a handful of lawmakers, Reps. Adriano Espaillat (D-N.Y.), Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), André Carson (D-Ind.) and Joaquin Castro (D-Tex.) are pushing for Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to do more.
The Bronx rapper also decided to chime in politically again following a rally for President Trump in North Carolina this week where the crowd began chanting “Send her back” reference Minnesota Congresswoman Rep. Ilhan Omar who is originally from Somalia over claims that she hates America. For context, she’s refused to denounce Al Qaeda and has asked for leniency for those seeking to join the terrorist organization before. Cardi posted a pic of Omar captioned with a Beyonce lyric saying, “You know you that b—- when you cause all this conversation,” from her 2016 song Formation. She also opined on how she felt we let Bernie Sanders down in the 2016 election which to his credit, even if he doesn’t make it far in the 2020 election, he will still be known as the originator of many of the policy ideas proposed this election cycle. As to whether we will see Cardi B supporting him for 2020 is yet to be seen.
