‘White Famous’ Gets Canceled After Just One Season

White Famous was the biopoc comedy about not just making it in Hollywood but making it in white Hollywood which is a distinct difference. In a year of race being the topic of discussion, one would think this would be a hit show. Unfortunately that was not the case for the Jamie Foxx produced show. The show, written about Jamie’s early career days starring SNL’s Jay Pharoah who even lost 40 pounds before creating his new show.

The show opened to mixed reviews including the New York Times describing it as giving a “lackluster Entourage impression.” The show displayed the protagonist’s struggle with maintaining his character while trying to reach the ultimate money generator of being palatable to white America. That struggle included playing a character in drag which he felt was emasculating but if you were to look around, it seems most black male big screen characters have done it.

Jay Pharoah seemed to have handled the news well at least publicly by tweeting his fans thanking them for their support and saying more is to come if they just stick with him. As the New York times pointed out that their might have been some structural issues with the show, but we’re wishing him the best. Hopefully he can keep the conversation going.
