Tia Mowry released photos of her newborn a full 8 weeks after she was born along with the enormous back story that went into choosing the child’s name. Cairo Tiahna Hardrict was announced as the name in a video posted to her Facebook page stating that her first name meant “victorious.” As for the middle name, “Tiahna actually means ‘follower of Christ’” Tia explained. “Also, Tiana was one of the first African princesses, so she is our little princess here!”

Being as though her husband Cory Hardict chose the name of their first child, 7 year old Cree Taylor, he also was tasked with the first name of their next child as she explained at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Awards in Beverly Hills this past March. And where did he get the name Cairo from? It was important that he had the letters “A,” “I” and “R” in the name because (“He always feels like he’s closer to his mother when he’s up in the air,” as inspired by a childhood plane trip with his mom growing up. Similarly Tia was able to get a little meaning from the spelling of the middle name because her name is in the spelling.

Pregnancy for Tia Mowry has been quite different than many of us are accustomed to seeing from celebrities. She opened up about her struggle with her weight after giving birth, something that is a lot more common than many of us would think. In an Instagram post showing a selfie of her 7 weeks after giving birth with a considerable amount of weight left to lose, she said the following:

“Some pregnant women after giving birth no longer have a belly after seven weeks,” she wrote. “While others, it may take a little while. Me, I’m the latter.”

“I remember after giving birth to Cree, my belly didn’t all of a sudden go flat. I did have a C-Section (as well as with my second pregnancy), and I thought something was wrong with me. I had seen in magazines the many women on the beach a few weeks postpartum in a two piece. To be honest, it had to take time for me to embrace my new body. With this second pregnancy, I now have embraced that fact that I’ve housed a human being. A miracle. A life. If it takes a while for me to get back to my normal self, than so be it. This. Is. Me. And I love me.”
