SNL comedian Kenan Thompson just won his first Emmy and is expected to head straight over to primetime television to start his own show. Titled Saving Larry, it’s a comedy about being a single dad. Co-produced by SNL creator Lorne Michaels where Kenan’s spent the last 15 years making him the longest serving cast member on the show, Kenan’s also an executive producer on the show while simultaneously being the star of the show. It’s based on a man who has to serve in the role of father and mother after the death of his wife. He does however get a little input on his parenting from his father-in-law hovering over him judging his parental skills as only an in-law can do.

An important detail here is that the show is just a concept at the moment and hasn’t been scheduled for a pilot yet. If by chance he does in fact get greenlit to have this show, he’s likely going to quit SNL as many others have before him to do their own shows. In the meantime, a new version of The Grinch will be out in theaters November 9th. By that time his second child, Gianna Michelle that he just had with his wife of 7 years, model Christina Evangeline will be 3 months old. They’re definitely going to have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.
